There's no shortage of crime dramas on network TVnowadays, but the late '90s were a golden era for the genre on Fox thanks to shows that pushed the normal procedural boundaries. While that's not uncommon in 2026, The X-Files was revolutionary for its time, and that carried over to Millennium, the Fox show that shared the same universe as Agents Mulder and Scully. It didn't have as long a run, however, and it may be best remembered as a drama that combined what worked on The X-Files with what should have worked in the long run on NBC's Hannibal.
