In the beginning, Netflix controlled the birth of the streaming era. Soon, Hulu and Amazon joined in to create a larger, but still manageable, spread of streaming content. As the prominence of streaming continued to rise, eventually overtaking traditional network TV viewing, the number of paid, subscriber-based streaming platforms skyrocketed.
