In the 2010s, Syfy put out a nearly perfect fantasy show that lasted five seasons and feels like a darker, more twisted combination of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and the world of Narnia. Fantasy is such a broad genre that a horror-esque fantasy TV show like Chilling Adventures of Sabrina can exist alongside the children’s books and movies The Chronicles of Narnia without anyone batting an eye. One is a gothic magic school story with morally dubious characters. The other is an escape into a fantasy world where the battle of good and evil is ongoing. These two stories don’t share styles, storytelling approaches, or types of magic. They target completely different audiences. However, the fantasy genre, as a whole, is better off because both of the stories exist.
