After 34 Years, Batman: The Animated Series' Reign As The Dark Knight's Best Adaptation Is Over

In 1992, the worlds of comics fans and animation fans changed forever when Batman: The Animated Series debuted. The show, which managed to combine the best elements of the Caped Crusader while creating something wholly unique, instantly became a hit. Under the watchful eyes of Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski, a universe of shows was born, though that certainly wasn't the original plan. Still, the Batman that was presented 34 years ago — voiced by the unbeatable Kevin Conroy — created a version of Batman that has yet to be beat. And not just the Dark Knight. His rogues and friends were all perfectly captured, with many being improved on and others being created for the first time, only to become icons themselves.
