Every once in a while, a movie comes along that has an intriguing premise and catches the audience's eye, only to be way stranger than anyone expected. Some great examples of this include Sorry to Bother You, Vanilla Sky, Donnie Darko, and The Lighthouse. The most famous modern example is likely Everything Everywhere All At Once, which includes multiverse-hopping, people with hot dogs for fingers, a Ratatouille spoof, rock with googly eyes, and more wackiness. Despite that, the film took home Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
