The news that HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon will finally address its central storyline in season 3 couldn’t be more exciting for longtime viewers. From Game of Thrones’s infamous Red Wedding to the gruesome events of House of the Dragon’s pilot, HBO’s fantasy franchise has always been aimed at a mature audience. However, outside sheer gore and shock value, there is another reason that Game of Thrones and its first spinoff, House of the Dragon, feel like uniquely mature fantasy shows.
