Netflix's 3-Part Thriller That's Designed To Be Binged Deserves Its Streaming Success

Netflix's greatest strength is making bingeable shows, but that notoriety can be a double-edged sword. In the age of streaming, original stories have to work twice as hard to catch a viewer's attention, and most series only have a limited number of episodes to prove their mettle. As the years pass, however, Netflix continually turns to new horizons to expand its binge model— most notably including international productions like Korean dramas. Consequently, since around 2016, the streaming juggernaut has worked hard to establish itself as the leading purveyor of bingeable K-dramas, whether they be acquired titles or exclusive original series.
