1999 was a curiously anxious year in the collective human experience, truly felt worldwide ahead of the new millennium. Cell phones were still a novelty, JNCO jeans ran rampant, and dial-up internet was broadly less convenient experience than the state of cyberspace today. To top it all off, pre-Y2K society feared various manifestations of the end of the world. It was a beautiful mess, and in Netlflix'sThe WONDERFools, set in the final days of 1999, so is its troubled protagonist, Eun Chae-ni, the Trainwreck of Haeseong City.
