Reacher has quickly become Prime Video's flagship action show. While the Tom Cruise Jack Reacher movie was heavily criticized due to the lack of resemblance between Cruise and the physically imposing ex-US military police major, actor Alan Ritchson is a closer match to the description in the book series the show is based on, with author Lee Child agreeing that the Reacher TV show is better than the movie. The casting is a great starting point, but Reacher also succeeded at its biggest challenge by giving the titular character more to say, while the book character is famously stoic.
