Freaks & Geeks remains a beloved cult classic twenty-five years after it premiered, but there are some elements of the show that seem particularly harsh in retrospect. Set in a Detroit suburb in 1980, Freaks & Geeks largely focuses on the two titular groups of friends as they make their way through high school. It's a grounded approach to the "high school sitcom" style of show that melds strong comedy with surprising pathos. Unfortunately, the show only ran for one season, but much of the Freaks & Geeks cast have gone on to great success elsewhere.
