After The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes reignited The Hunger Games film franchise, I've been thrilled at the prospect of a sequel, but recent news puts a wrench in my dreams. As the first Hunger Games spinoff, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes was my most highly anticipated release of 2023. Released ten years after Mockingjay and five years after The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, it hinted that the beloved franchise could make a full-fledged return. However, even with a $337 million box office, my hopes for The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes' sequel may be misplaced.
