Bong Joon-Ho says why the title of Mickey17 is different from the book on which it is based. Mickey17 is based on the 2022 Ashton Edward novel titled Mickey7, which is a high-concept science-fiction novel about a space explorer who is sent on a dangerous mission to colonize an ice world called Niflheim. When one version of Mickey dies, “human printing” is used to make a replacement version of Mickey. Joon-Ho’s adaptation of Mickey17 is set for release in late 2025.
