Dystopian sci-fi is not always as far removed from reality as it may seem. Often, some of the most disturbing stories in the sci-fi genre can seem incredibly relatable and reflective of the real world. And they do not seem prophetic because they predict specific details about the future. They feel eerily real because they merely reveal how present world developments can aggravate humanity's darkest tendencies.
