For over 20 years, Law & Order: Special Victims Unithas been defined by the relationship between Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), and the upcoming season may finally present a catalyst to finally bring them together romantically. Since Meloni left SVU in 2011, the series has worked hard to reunite the former partners and keep their emotional bond alive, even when Stabler wasn't a consistent part of the Law & Order universe. The franchise has long teased out the pair's unexplored and unresolved feelings, both in moments where they felt appropriate and moments where they weren't.
