There's no real way to know if a TV show will catch on with audiences. While it's become a breakout hit, if The Pitt came out a year earlier, or a year later, it may not have taken off like it has. Great shows come and go all the time, often without anyone noticing them, and the ability for a series to stand out from the crown has only gotten harder with streaming. But even before every studio had its own service that released more shows every week than any person could watch in 10 lifetimes, some shows, even critically acclaimed ones, never caught on.
