Star Wars is returning with a new movie and an all-new cast in 2027, but the franchise's next installment will also mark the end of a tradition that has defined a half century-long era. The 50th anniversary of Star Wars is approaching in 2027, and Disney and Lucasfilm already have a movie lined up to coincide with the anniversary. Star Wars: Starfighter is set to premiere on May 28, 2027, 50 years and three days after the May 25, 1977 release of the original Star Wars, later subtitled A New Hope.
