Of all the iconic 1980s movie characters, Conan the Barbarian is instantly recognizable, and with Conan the Barbarian being one of the best 1980s action movies ever made, it is easy to understand why he has become a staple of the decade. However, the character is 94 years old, originally based on Robert E. Howard's creation in his 1932 Weird Tales short stories. When he was brought to the screen in 1982, the movie gave us Arnold Schwarzenegger in his breakout role as Conan. While Jason Momoa was well-cast in the 2011 adaptation, it was impossible to outshine Schwarzenegger.
