Saccharine opens with something I'm not sure I've ever seen before: footage of someone ravenously eating, played in reverse. It's somewhat abstracted, framed as if occurring in a void of color and intercut with a different person working out, but it would be quite unsettling without all that. It triggers the uncanny response that backwards recordings sometimes do, and it sits somewhere between consumption and regurgitation, pulling those two poles uncomfortably close together. It made a strong impression on me.
