HBO's New Song Of The Samurai Finally Gives Netflix's One Piece A Proper Rival

Netflix set a new standard for live-action anime adaptations with One Piece, but HBO has officially put forward a challenger. For years, live-action adaptations of manga or anime series were considered a joke, especially when produced by Netflix. Movies like Fullmetal Alchemist and Death Note were simply weak imitations of the projects viewers knew and loved. However, in 2023, Netflix shocked the anime community when One Piece season 1 actually turned out to be pretty great.
