Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has joined the cast of an upcoming action thriller said to have a samurai twist. Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award-winning theater star Erivo recently played the leading role of Elphaba in Jon M. Chu's adaptation of the Broadway classic Wicked. Growing up in London, Erivo made her theater debut in 2011 and enjoyed a prolific career on stage, notably appearing in The Color Purple before progressing to British TV shows including Chewing Gum and The Tunnel.
