Monopoly has found its screenwriters. A movie adaptation of the iconic board game has been in the works since at least 2008. The latest iteration of the Monopoly movie, which was announced in April 2024, is being produced by Lionsgate and Hasbro Entertainment along with LuckyChap Entertainment, the company co-founded by Margot Robbie that has been behind titles such as I, Tonya, Birds of Prey, Saltburn, My Old Ass, Promising Young Woman, and Barbie. It is most likely the billion-dollar success of the latter title that drew them to the board game adaptation.
