Last year, the box office saw some significant successes, with Pixar's Inside Out 2 leading as the highest-grossing movie, amassing over $1.6 billion worldwide. Following closely, Deadpool & Wolverine garnered $1.3 billion, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever. Animation fared very well in 2024 with Moana 2 also making $1 billion and Despicable Me 4 making $969 million. Musicals also made a mark with Wicked earning $717 million.
