While The Dark Knight trilogy represents the heights of Batman movies, The Batman surpassed those films in one significant area, and The Batman - Part II needs to make it even better. DC's The Batman had high expectations to meet after it was announced. It was the first solo Batman film after The Dark Knight Rises, and audiences wanted to see a different take on the character following Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy. While it still had Nolan's dark tone and crime thriller narrative, it also featured a gritter, dirtier Gotham and a version of Batman who wasn't pulling any punches.
