A new Star Wars trilogy led by Simon Kinberg is reportedly in the works, and while these movies aren't confirmed to be Episodes 10-12, they're a good reminder that those episodes are only a matter of time. Although Star Wars movies and TV shows have expanded considerably throughout the decades, the franchise was built upon its episodic structure, first with Episodes 4-6 in the original Star Wars trilogy and then with Episodes 1-3 in the prequels. The Star Wars sequel trilogy continued this pattern, although it also theoretically ended it.
