The Offspring is introduced as a new type of Xenomorph in Alien: Romulus, and as the final boss of the film, whether its actually dead at the film's conclusion is a lingering question. The birth of the Offspring completely changes the course of Alien: Romulus' ending. Kay sustains near fatal injuries in their attempt to escape, and she resorts to injecting herself with the black goo vials as a means of "healing" herself. What she doesn't realize until its too late is that the goo transformed her baby into a human/xenomorph/Engineer-looking hybrid known only as the Offspring.
