Although Borderlands' cinematic debut didn't go to plan, a second movie is still possible, but only under one condition. Despite producing several popular games and creating one of the most interesting universes in gaming, Borderlands' transition into live-action flopped massively. The movie was in production for around nine years and suffered behind-the-scenes issues, but when the film was finally released, its reception left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, Borderlands fell into a classic video game adaptation mistake by deviating away from the source material and changing characters' backstories, leading to a critical score of 10% on Rotten Tomatoes.
