The hugely popular video game franchise The Sims is getting a big-screen adaptation, with the announcement that a movie is in development and some big names are already attached. The original video game, The Sims, was released in 2000, as a character-centric spin-off of the hugely popular city-building game SimCity (1989). Since then, The Sims has since become the 10th best-selling video game franchise of all-time, with four main games in the series, a fifth on the way, and multiple mobile games and now-defunct titles, as well as an entire language used in the games: Simlish.
