Grant Gustin starred as Barry Allen in the DC series The Flash, and there is still some hope that the actor may play a role in the upcoming DCU. Everything known about Superman suggests that the film will interact strongly with the franchise's legacy, and there have been few more significant additions to The Flash's legacy in the past decade than the CW series Gustin starred in. The series ran for 9 seasons, contributed heavily to the Arrowverse, and explored Flashs comic book history. The series even crossed over with the DCEU, featuring an appearance by Ezra Miller as another Barry Allen.
