The explosive finale of Fire Country season 1 seemingly neutralized Bodes development, with its twists and turns letting him land in a place opposite to where season 1s second half set Bode up to be. After Fire Country season 1 detailed the problems Bode faced having to return to the hometown he abandoned and the difficulties Vince and Sharon dealt with welcoming him back into the family after years they were strangers, its season finale destroyed their progress with Bodes confession. Bodes decision also impacted Gabriela in Fire Country, after she fought for him and he just put up walls.
