Thors Asgardian armor was actually much more powerful than the MCU portrayed it to be. Thor was the first intergalactic being to be introduced to the MCU, so his Asgardian weapons and technology were already unlike anything the characters from Earth had ever seen. In Marvel's realm of Gods that constantly used magic, it makes sense that their resources would have to withstand the strongest of powers. For how much Asgard has been featured in the MCU, the franchise has never truly gone into how powerful Asgardian armor actually is.
