The Jedi Order was doomed to collapse long before it actually did, but Star Wars foreshadowed its demise over 200 years before Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Phase III of the High Republic has begun to lay down the seeds of the Jedi Order's destruction all the way back in 228 BBY (before the Battle of Yavin). That part of the Star Wars timeline was long before the Jedi Order fell, and even before the Jedi knew the Sith were still active, but that didn't mean they faced no threats during the era.
