NCIS has officially been renewed for season 22 as the CBS franchise continues to expand with new spinoffs on the way. Originally conceived as a spinoff to the 1995 series JAG, the military procedural premiered in September 2003, and has since become a massive franchise. This includes the ongoing spinoffs NCIS: Hawai'i and NCIS: Sydney, the latter of which was recently renewed for season 2.
