Although Warner Bros.' confirmation that the Wachowskis will not be involved in The Matrix 5 was surprising, given their leadership of the franchise until this point, the studio's replacement may actually be the best thing for the movie and wider series. Although the Wachowskis created The Matrix series in 1999 with their celebrated first movie, it's fair to say their subsequent entries have polarized the fanbase. By going in a new direction, Warner Bros. has potentially set the stage for an exciting new chapter in The Matrix's story.
