The Dark Knight Rises: Why Bane Has To Wear A Mask

The Dark Knight Rises introduced audiences to Bane, played by Tom Hardy, a major DC villain who stands out as he has to wear a mask at all times. In DC Comics, Batman has encountered a large variety of villains, many of whom have also appeared in the many live-action Batman adaptations. While the most iconic of these is perhaps the Joker, another major villain is Bane, who made his big-screen debut in Batman & Robin and was given a second chance thanks to Christopher Nolan in 2012's The Dark Knight Rises.
