Gillian Anderson has commented on whether she would return as Dana Scully for a potential The X-Files reboot. Originally running for nine seasons between 1993 and 2002, The X-Files would also go on to spawn two movies, The Lone Gunmen spinoff show, as well as return for two more seasons in 2016 and 2018. In March 2023, original series creator Chris Carter revealed that he had been speaking with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler about his plans to reboot the franchise with a diverse cast.
