Vikings covers a large part of Viking history, but given its historical inaccuracies, the show’s timeline can be confusing. Loosely based on and modeled after the Norse sagas, Michael Hirst’s historical drama TV series Vikings has a number of major time jumps as it moves through the legends of Viking history while painting a picture of the shifting world of Scandinavia. Vikings initially focused on the raids and travels of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), but as the series progressed, it shifted its focus to Ragnar’s sons and their own travels.
